Wildlife is thriving

As well as grey-headed flying-foxes, swamp wallabies, bandicoots, brushtail and ringtail possums, water dragons and goannas, the valley is vibrant with life.

  • Variegated fairy wrens and white-browed scrubwrens feed in the understorey
  • Spinebills, eastern yellow robins, grey fantails and golden whistlers in the mid storey
  • brown gerygones, brown thornbills and spotted pardalotes through the canopy
  • Whipbirds, satin bowerbirds, wonga and brown pigeons are heard calling
  • Brush turkeys strut and build their nesting mounds
  • Two pairs of lyrebirds were feeding on the edge of the flying-fox camp in 2010
  • Powerful owls rear two chicks in most years, feeding on ringtail possums and flying-foxes
  • White-breasted sea-eagles visit the valley to feed on flying-fox
