Fruit

  • Flying-foxes chew fruit, crushing the juice out of the fibre.
  • They swallow the juice and spit out the fibre.
  • Seeds less than 4mm across are swallowed and will be carried in the gut of the animal as it flies away from the fruiting tree.
  • Sooner rather than later the seeds will be excreted; if they land in a suitable place a new plant will grow.
