This year, Sydney’s Science in the Swamp and Science in the Scrub fairs drew crowds of all ages to explore the wonders of science and nature in fun, interactive settings.
Science in the Swamp
Held at Centennial Park, Science in the Swamp was an engaging event focused on environmental science and wildlife. Families and science enthusiasts gathered to enjoy hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, and talks from experts in conservation and biology. Activities included wildlife encounters, interactive science booths, and educational workshops, making science accessible and exciting for visitors of all ages.
The fair also spotlighted Australia’s unique ecosystems, with special emphasis on protecting local wildlife and natural spaces. At the KBCS stand, attendees had the chance to meet our beautiful eastern grey-headed bats and learn more about environmental conservation efforts underway in their own communities.
Science in the Scrub
Science in the Scrub took place in Western Sydney Parklands, showcasing the rich biodiversity of the region with a focus on nature and outdoor science. The event featured bush talks where attendees learned about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as hands-on experiments and interactive displays.
Young scientists enjoyed experiments and workshops, while families learnt about the native plants and animals that thrive in Western Sydney. The event aimed to foster a connection with local nature and inspire a new generation of eco-conscious community members.
Both fairs were a fantastic way to celebrate National Science Week, bringing together the community for an immersive experience that combined learning with fun.
